In  THIS  post,  We tackled Planks  and  saw  how    great they were   at  toning  your  mid section , strengthening your  back  and  improving  your  flexibility in general. I mean who wouldn’t  want  that? I used to  think that  Gymnasts  didn’t need  a stronger  back  and  abs   because they needed  their  backs to be flexible  enough to perform the crazy stunts  and  now  I am just sad that I ever thought like  that

So  I know you are probably thinking , Isn’t   planks  serving  the  same  purpose? why  do i need  to  do  side  planks ?  well, Planks are  good  but  you need  to  do  side  planks to make  it  perfect, it is  like  an  unsolved  incomplete  math equation that needs  side  planks  to   solve the problem, it  is  just  what you need  to strengthen and tone your Quadratus  lumborum muscle  . A muscle that  ordinary planks definitely  do not  tackle

have you been having  back pains?  well, with the authorization of your doctor, you can perform  this exercise and  ‘Bam!’  your  back pains  and  sorrows  just got  served , you’re  welcome. You  most importantly need  not  to worry  about  a  saggy  side  stomach  commonly known  as  ‘mataya‘    because  together with a  healthier diet and cardio , it gives you  a  toned  stomach,

In case you are wondering how to do it, just lay down  on your  side, ensuring  that  you ONLY  support yourself   with your  hand  and  feet (not legs) and  your other  hand  at the  back of  your  head as seen  below



or  vertically straight  straight above your  head  or  on your  hip


stay in that position for  as long as you can, twenty seconds preferably for beginners, rest for  ten  and  redo the  repetitions switching  sides


remember  to  have  fun  as  you  do them, it is not  a  punishment, just a  reminder  of  how strong you are getting.
